The LWF Uganda Program is looking for a qualified and experienced person to fill the following position:

Job Title: Nutrition Officer.
No. of Positions: One (1)
Place of Assignment: Palorinya Settlement
Reports To: Livelihoods and Nutrition Coordinator/Project Coordinator.
Starting date: ASAP
Duration of Contract: 06 months

Job Summary
The Nutrition Officer is responsible for the professional technical, operational and administrative assiatnce throughout the programming process for the nutrition programmes/projects with in LWF's country program from development, planning to delivery of results. In doing so, s/he implements technical and administrative project tasks to facilitate project development, implementation, project progress monitoring, evaluation and reporting of results. Key accountabilities include; Support to project development and planning, Project management, monitoring and delivery of results, Technical and operational support to project implementation, Networking and Partnership development, Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Project implementation and Management
• Effective, timely and quality implementation of Nutrition interventions
• Project documents followed in implementation of planned activities
• Project interventions directed to the right beneficiaries
• Food stores well managed according to SOPs
• Conduct regular project performance evaluations to inform programing
2. Capacity building and Human Resource Management
• Ensure Sector staff understand their roles and responsibilities, project expectations and work towards achieving them
• Delivery of training, mentorship, counselling and exposure to research related skills, use of research findings in effecting behavioral change strategies as well as promoting innovation among local institutions.
• Generate periodical work plans, report on sector activities and ensure that the Project’s objectives/outputs are achieved according to the work plans and within the contracted project period according to donor guidelines
• Training needs assessments, trainings conducted to facilitate and rolling out key intervention models that uplift nutrition and food security conditions of individual beneficiaries and their households
3. Budget management
• Ensure timely procurement of required project items/supplies in line with LWF policies, guidelines and procedures;
• Monitor closely the project expenditures against the available budget
4. Partnership & Coordination
• Promotes good networking relations with relevant local authorities, district local government, community leaders, civil society/non-governmental organizations, collaborating/implementing partners, and other stakeholders where appropriate;
• Liaise with local institutions, health care service providers, community structures so as to leverage on their support in delivery of high-quality interventions while addressing the concerns of stakeholders;
• Oversees and co-ordinates the LWF Nutrition project in accordance with the LWF policies and procedures, as well as donor guidelines, including the use of Rights-Based Approach (RBA)
• Work with other LWF sectors and partners in ensuring comprehensive knowledge support for beneficiaries and integration of nutrition sensitive activities.
• Performs a central role in coordinating nutrition technical working group and ensure functional DNCC/SNCCs in the implementation districts
Education, Qualifications & Experience Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Food science and technology or Public Health with minimum of 4 years’ experience in direct nutrition and public health implementation
• Post graduate training in Project Planning and management/ Public health is desirable
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Nutrition governance and programing in Uganda.
• Diplomatic and culturally sensitive.

• Ability to inspire and build capacity of field staff;
• Good interpersonal skills and excellent negotiation skills;
• Information Technology (MS Office, EXCEL, Internet);
• Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines;
• Good team player with good communication skills;
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, to remain flexible to a changing environment, and to make decisions independently.
• Valid riding license
