The LWF Uganda Program is looking for a qualified and experienced person to fill the following position:
Job Title: Project Assistant (SRHR).
No. of Positions: One (1).
Place of Assignment: Luuka.
Reports To: Project Officer.
Starting date: ASAP
Duration of Contract: 11months contract.
The closing date for applications: 3nd, February 2025.
Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Project Officer, SRH project Assistant, will work with youths and adolescents and other relevant stakeholders in the health facilities and communities, to ensure implementation of the activities in the area of operation, including youth friendly services, adolescent sexual reproductive health Services, ANC, assisted deliveries, PNC, etc. The SRH project Assistant will oversee and ensure, the activities related to the project are implemented in a timely and efficient manner according to the agreed LWF Uganda, and Donor Guidelines, and provide coordination for all aspects related to project activities in the designated youth centres. He/she will organize training and mentoring sessions for adolescent groups, school health clubs, support functionality of youth spaces, support SGBV case management in line with established guidelines and referral pathway, supports routine data collection and M&E activities.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Project Implementation
Support community health workers' capacity development and training, including peer educators’ youth, and other community leaders.
Support the coordination of in and out-of-school youth activities that address sexual and reproductive health needs.
Work closely with health workers and other relevant actors at the community level to improve the delivery of SRH information and services.
Promote male involvement in SRH activities and service uptake.
Strengthen the health management system from the community to the district level through improved data collection, reporting, and referral efforts.
Promote positive, sustained behaviour change regarding critical SRH issues among beneficiaries and health workers.
Identification of schools and formation of school health clubs in line with the set guidelines.
Work with the Project Officer to Initiate and coordinate the planning of the project activities in liaison with other sectors, and ensure optimum utilization of project resources in conjunction with the Project Officer.
In collaboration with the Project Officer, liaise, consult, and work in partnership and cooperation with stakeholders to facilitate project implementation.
Regularly visit all project sites where activities are undertaken, check on progress, and offer support and directions in line with the project objectives and as directed by the project officer.
Promote active participation of the community-based mechanisms and community-based facilitators in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the project activities as directed by the project officer.
Assist the Project Officer in preparing periodical reports and work plans for Project activities and achievements in line with the requirements in the project documents.
Carry out delegated responsibilities in the absence of the project officer.
Project Planning
Work with Project Officer in making work plans and procurement Plans, for the sector.
In liaison with the project officer, ensure timely development of concept notes and service requisition.
Carry out need assessments to enhance proposal development.
Staff Management
Lead Community-based facilitators (CBFs) ensuring clarity over plans and priorities, providing supervision, guidance, and mentoring, encouraging effective teamwork and inclusiveness, and building a team spirit through regular meetings and events and clear reporting mechanisms for each team member.
Be responsible for the development of CBFs, coaching, and mentoring to enhance their capacity.
Assist with the provision of or coordinate the training necessary for the delivery of good-quality activities among health workers.
Financial management / Budget Monitoring & Control
Work with the Project Officer to develop accurate annual budgets and revisions for the sector as required.
Work with the Project Officer to Keep track of all project/program budgets and ensure that project/program activities are within assigned budgets;
Make payment requests for field-implemented activities.
Project Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
Collect and tabulate field data on project activities carried out regularly, and undertake impact assessment using participatory approaches for all beneficiaries to determine the relevance and impact of the assistance offered.
Oversee the implementation of a robust M&E System to monitor project performance and ensure an appropriate level of accountability.
Participate in surveys, and assessments to continually identify community needs within project areas.
Conduct regular field visits to the project sites and update the project officer on the progress of project activities in the field.
In liaison with M&E sectors and other relevant stakeholders, carry out beneficiary verification.
Prepare and maintain proper documentation of all project activities.
Participates in Programme monitoring and evaluation.
Documentation of success stories periodically as may be agreed with the Project officer.
Other
Undertake other related duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Supervisor.
Education, Qualifications & Experience Required
Diploma/ Degree in health-related disciplines, Social Sciences, or relevant field
Proven knowledge and experience in developing and implementing community mobilization projects.
At least two years’ experience in SRHR or any health-related project involving youth.
Excellent report writing, communication, and analytical skills.
Knowledge of computer (excel and database) is a requirement.

Excellent English Language (both written and spoken).

Ability to work with youth.
Ability to ride a motorcycle is a MUST with a valid driving permit of Class A or willingness to acquire.
